In many communities, barbershops are an effective way to reach people at high risk for certain health conditions.

According to a new study, they may be a good place to test black men for diabetes.

"Diabetes screening is especially important among black men. They have some of the highest rates of diabetic complications".

Researchers found that black men in America are at a higher risk for type 2 diabetes than men of other ethnic groups.

According to the CDC, more than 13% of black men nationwide have the disease, compared to 8.7% of white males.
